We sold our house! Surprise. It was a crazy journey, but we’re excited to say that we’re finally on the other side of it.

This might be a surprising announcement to some of you, but we’ve been throwing around the idea of selling our house and buying something new for a while, we were just waiting for the right timing. And like it always seems to do, the timing made itself very clear when we found our new house.

We had stopped looking for a little while, while we prepared to list our own home. The market here moves so quick (as it might by you as well) that we had to sell our house to be as quick and competitive as possible when we did find the house we wanted. This was our plan moving forward, until we found our new house. We put in a contingent offer on our new house, knowing that if they accepted our offer, we would list our old house within 10 days. Well, guess what. They accepted it.

Ensue chaos, basically. But a good chaos. Chaos that felt like progress. We decluttered our house and staged it for photos. Everything looked great and it really inspired me to minimize our next house as well (still a work in progress, as I’m sure you can imagine).

Here we are in the new house now and we are SO excited for some extra space and easy access to the backyard. We’re also really close to my parents and Joey’s parents, which is amazing. Below I’ve compiled a little “before” and “after” tour of our old house for you to enjoy. Check it out!

The curb appeal in this house was a little bit lacking at first. The concrete steps and porch were an eye sore and the first thing you saw when you pulled up. With a little porch and patio paint on the steps, a little paint on the front door and some flowers to brighten things up, the entire space was transformed.

We eventually painted the exterior and changed out the lights, which made a big impact. We also upgraded the landscaping last summer to finish off the front. All in all, the curb appeal easily did a 180 over the last 3 years. You can read more about the projects on our porch below.

The foyer was a pretty simple and inexpensive transformation. A little bit of paint and a new light fixture and this space was completely changed. I’m really happy with the way it turned out. You can read more about the Foyer Refresh here.

This space had no focal point when we moved in. I originally wanted to do built in bookshelves across this wall, as well, but it was just too low on the priority list and never got done. I will say though, the added faux fireplace shiplap wall just gave the room a sense of direction. That focal wall cost about $100 and I’m really happy we did it. This kitchen had many different looks over the course of our 3 years in this house. It was such a small space that it was pretty easy to change quickly. Almost everything in this kitchen was done with paint… Cabinets, walls, backsplash, you name it. Luckily, when we moved in, there were already nice counters and appliances. It made this kitchen transformation quick, easy and cheap. Who doesn’t love that!?

Check out a couple different looks below.

This bathroom was definitely the biggest project that we did in this house. We tore out the old tile and tub and did new subway tile and a new tub. It felt never ending while we were working on it, but it was so worth it in the end. We absolutely loved it when it was finished. I’m trying to remember these feelings now that we’re in the new house. Tile always just feels a little daunting to get started on. Check out this bathroom’s progress below.

This space was a pretty simple transformation. A little bit of paint and some added board and batten changed the entire look. One of the tricks that I learned in this house was to always always always use area rugs. Yes, even on carpet. I might even say, especially on carpet. Area rugs change the entire look of a space and really just take it to a new level.

Nursery

This little tiny nursery came a long way. I don’t have a true “before” photo, but it was dark blue and white originally. We started by painting it a light gray (On the Rocks by Sherwin Williams), and then added more from there. The board and batten came along eventually and was initially white. I decided to get exciting and painted it green maybe a year ago. It was a cute little nursery and was perfect for our little guy for the first 2 years of his life. After

I will say, this space was pretty neglected the entire time we lived in this house. Because of the layout of the house, we really didn’t go down here. Like ever. It was maybe a year ago that I really decided to give it a little bit of love. The main things that we did down here was paint the walls, trim and the fireplace tile. You can see the tile fireplace makeover below.

It’s been a blast working on this house for the last 3 years. We loved making it home. While it was a little sad to leave, we’re excited for our new adventure and for lots of new projects in the new house. Thanks so much for following along! I love having you here.

I was trying to post this with original audio of m I was trying to post this with original audio of me explaining each item and my thoughts on the price etc etc but apparently I don’t have that capability yet on IG… so, enjoy this reel and just know that I had a lot more to say. 😂

I feel like my house is just constantly a mess, no matter how hard I try. Anyone else? It feels like I’m always behind, and to be honest, it bothers me a lot. It overwhelms me and stresses me out. It keeps me from being content and present. Between things constantly being broken (hello middle child) and just too much stuff in general.
Here’s what I’m working on to simplify and calm the chaos.
1. I’ve been removing all toys that don’t get played with often. We currently have magnatiles, Duplos, and race cars out. The rest have been moved to storage in the basement for the moment. We’ll see what we keep as my kids do sometimes notice toys they’re missing and ask for them.
2. I’ve been ruthlessly getting rid of stuff - whether donate or trash. If we don’t absolutely love it, or we have multiples, or no one touches it, or we have a huge pile of random papers and crafts. Gone. 😂 it’s so relieving.
3. I often have artwork and decor laying around because I don’t fully know where it’s going yet. I’ve been removing anything that doesn’t serve a purpose and have been putting it in basement storage. No point having it sit there and clutter. I’ll go get it when I’m ready to hang the picture or use the decor.
4. I’ve been re-assessing where we need more storage. I replaced a dresser that didn’t functional well with a $50 homeschool cabinet from FB marketplace and it’s been so much better.
5. As I remove things from our every day view, I’m noticing the ability to better enjoy the everyday messes and real life, because it isn’t so out of control and overwhelming.

I hope this is encouraging for mamas in the same boat ✨

We spent a lot of time in our front yard, but never really on our porch. I bought this porch paint months ago and finally got it done! Now our porch is a cozy place to sit ✨ Inspired by @mustardseedbeginnings super cute porch.
