Sometimes you get to a point where you just need a little contrast… Just me? Anyway, here’s the new green board and batten accent wall in our “nursery”.
Before
You might remember this space before…
There was absolutely nothing wrong with it. I actually loved it. It just got to a point where I was craving some change (and color, apparently).
I always love a good neutral, monochromatic space. But sometimes I just need something different. Something with contrast, something exciting.1
My fave way to shop paint…
Unless I know the exact color I want… I usually check the “reject” paint shelf at either Home Depot or Lowe’s first. I found an entire gallon of this green for $9. Sometimes it’s a compromise, but I still feel like it can be super worth it.
Basically what it is… Someone has them mix up paint and then they decide it’s not what they wanted or it didn’t come out right. They then put it on clearance to try to get rid of it. If you can find the right color, it’s amazing!
Board and Batten Tutorial
In case you’re newer here… We did this board and batten focal wall maybe a year ago? It was super simple and only like $10 total. You can find that tutorial here.
As for the color…
Since the color was a custom tint, I can’t tell you what it is. That’s the main bummer of getting “reject” paint. But if you only need one can, it shouldn’t be a problem. You can always take in a swatch, also, and have them match it. I just probably wouldn’t try that matched paint as touch up, since it might be a little bit different.
With all of that said, I found two colors that look similar. Just a quick Google search shows all sorts of rooms with these colors and they all look super great.

If you’re looking for a good green for somewhere in your house, check these out!
Ok question time… Is there a room you’ve been wanting to paint a bold color? What is it and what’s holding you back?

Love this. Thanks for all the tips. I have a beach bungalow I want to add Board and batton to. My Painter suggested flat paint on walls without high traffic. It hides the flaws. There are plenty in my old house. Love your tips, thanks again!
