We bought a house! Follow along here to see the raw footage of our new home with this New House “Before” Tour.

Entryway/Living Room

Welcome to our New House “Before” Tour! We’ll start here.

This space is supposed to be a formal dining room/living room combo. We have no need for a formal dining room, so we will be transforming it into a front living room of sorts. Possibly some toys eventually, but right now our toys are all upstairs (with the exception of a few matchbox cars) and it’s been really nice having the toys contained. I’m envisioning some white board and batten on the lower portion of the walls, white curtains, painted banister, painted front door, new flooring. Stay tuned to see it as we make progress.

Family Room

This space is connected to the kitchen and dining space. Therefore it’s used quite a bit. I have some big plans for this space, including a fireplace makeover, new flooring, painting the walls, new curtains, etc. It might be a process in this space, but I’m excited to see it come together!

Kitchen

I dream of this kitchen with all white cabinets, subway tile, maybe a little bead board, a range hood to replace the microwave, white café appliances, new light fixture over the table, pendant lights over the island, etc.

This is a project I’ve already started, but haven’t updated you guys yet. I’m excited to show you all the progress as we make this kitchen ours.

Master Bed

The master in this house is broken up into 2 rooms. You walk into a little sitting room, separated from the bedroom portion by a 3 sided fireplace. We’re still trying to figure out how to configure it totally, but we’re grateful for all of the extra space. In this space, I’m imaging a simple farmhouse chandelier to replace the fan eventually, new paint, new curtains and painting the fireplace. Who knows, I’ll probably end up adding board and batten here too, since I love the look so much.

Below is the sitting area. Currently it’s half my office, half sitting area. Just to the right is the master bathroom.

Master Bath

Can I just start by saying how excited I am for that tub? So excited. In here, the biggest changes will be painting the vanity, new mirrors, new lights. I’d love to change the shower tile eventually, but for now it’s going to stay. I’m planning to brighten up the space for now with paint.

Bedroom #1

This room will be our playroom/guest room. It will receive a new coat of paint (white), new curtains, a daybed for guests. It’s really just decorating this space, beyond those things.

Kid’s Room

This room will be Miles’ and Baby #2’s room (eventually). This room will be painted, we’ll add new curtains and then decorate. The bedrooms will be pretty easy projects. I’d love to do a cute focal wall in here eventually, but who knows when that will happen.

Kid’s Bath

The first things on my list for this bathroom are the mirror, light fixture and vanity cabinet. I’ll replace the shower curtain with one of our, paint the walls, possibly add board and batten and change the towel bar to hooks. These are pretty simple changes that won’t cost us much and really won’t take much time, either.

That’s our house!

We’re so excited to be sharing our new house with you guys. We have started a few projects, but are working on finishing a few in order to share them soon! So stay tuned. Thanks so much for checking out our New House “Before” Tour. Come back soon to see updates as we make this house our home.

I was trying to post this with original audio of m I was trying to post this with original audio of me explaining each item and my thoughts on the price etc etc but apparently I don’t have that capability yet on IG… so, enjoy this reel and just know that I had a lot more to say. 😂

I feel like my house is just constantly a mess, no matter how hard I try. Anyone else? It feels like I’m always behind, and to be honest, it bothers me a lot. It overwhelms me and stresses me out. It keeps me from being content and present. Between things constantly being broken (hello middle child) and just too much stuff in general.
Here’s what I’m working on to simplify and calm the chaos.
1. I’ve been removing all toys that don’t get played with often. We currently have magnatiles, Duplos, and race cars out. The rest have been moved to storage in the basement for the moment. We’ll see what we keep as my kids do sometimes notice toys they’re missing and ask for them.
2. I’ve been ruthlessly getting rid of stuff - whether donate or trash. If we don’t absolutely love it, or we have multiples, or no one touches it, or we have a huge pile of random papers and crafts. Gone. 😂 it’s so relieving.
3. I often have artwork and decor laying around because I don’t fully know where it’s going yet. I’ve been removing anything that doesn’t serve a purpose and have been putting it in basement storage. No point having it sit there and clutter. I’ll go get it when I’m ready to hang the picture or use the decor.
4. I’ve been re-assessing where we need more storage. I replaced a dresser that didn’t functional well with a $50 homeschool cabinet from FB marketplace and it’s been so much better.
5. As I remove things from our every day view, I’m noticing the ability to better enjoy the everyday messes and real life, because it isn’t so out of control and overwhelming.

I hope this is encouraging for mamas in the same boat ✨

We spent a lot of time in our front yard, but never really on our porch. I bought this porch paint months ago and finally got it done! Now our porch is a cozy place to sit ✨ Inspired by @mustardseedbeginnings super cute porch.
These frames have been sitting empty for a while n These frames have been sitting empty for a while now… I went to order some prints for them the other day, and I didn’t like the price. SO I decided I was going to make my own art for them. I found a fabric remnant at a local thrift store for $0.99 cents and voila. Took all of 5 mins ✨
