Goodwill find

You’ll never believe it (I barely believed it), but while strolling through Goodwill a few months back, I saw an IKEA sconce on the bottom shelf of the electronics aisle. I looked over it and almost didn’t buy it because it looked like maybe a piece of the electrical part was missing? Anyway, I put it back, started to walk away and then turned around and grabbed it real fast. And I’m so glad I did.

While I wasn’t sure if it would work correctly, it does! I ended up buying another one from IKEA to go with it. New, it’s $19.99 I believe. At Goodwill I bought it for $3.99. BONUS. Now I can’t promise you’ll always find things that good at the thrift store, but you definitely won’t if you don’t try.

I try to look often for the best possible chance of finding good stuff. Looking at different locations around town helps too. You just never know what you might find… The thrill of the hunt, I suppose.

So when I bought these sconces, they were black. But I’ve been wanting to add gold to our home for a while, so I figured, where better to start than here??

I used this spray paint. It’s a soft but bright gold. Big fan.

You can find the sconces here.

I’m usually not a fan of buying new things and then painting them. I feel like it’s a waste of money, but at the same time, if you like the style but not the color… idk. If you want to do it, go for it 😉

While we’re at it…

I was just thinking… this room has come so far. Here’s a quick before for you to see the contrast.
