Before
This is the best “before” picture I could find at the moment. I know I have better ones, but I’m currently in the middle of transferring a lot of my work from my laptop to my new desktop.
With that said, if you look at the bottom of this picture, you’ll see that the dresser was a dark blue. I actually thought I was buying black paint, considering the paint color had “black” in its name. But anyway. You’ll notice the top isn’t painted. That’s kind of how I do things sometimes…. halfway. It’s not always something I want to admit, but it’s the truth sometimes. Anyway, this is what it looked like when I started repainting it a few days ago.
Supplies Needed
- Paint brush
- Foam roller
- Bonding Primer (for extra durability)
- Paint (Behr Premium Paint and Primer in One is my favorite. You can find it at Home Depot)
- Screw driver (to remove hardware)
- New hardware (if applicable)
The Process
This dresser is wood, so most of it I just painted. However, the top is laminate so I decided to use a bonding primer first, just to be sure that it stuck and was durable.
Otherwise, I remove the drawers and hardware, wipe down surfaces and PAINT.
This dresser took 3 coats on the drawers to cover the dark blue. The body took 2 coats with the foam roller and the top took 1 primer coat, 2 paint coats.
After
