A few more hosting tips…
Hosting can be overwhelming, we get it. If it’s your first time hosting, or your 100th time, here are a few tips that we have to take the stress out of your gatherings.
1. Plan Ahead
You don’t have to plan weeks in advance, if that’s not your personality, but having a general plan (even if just a few days before) can really help keep the chaos at bay. I usually try to sit down a few days ahead and really think through the details, make a shopping list, etc, so that I feel prepared and also don’t overspend.
2. Delegate
Don’t feel like you have to do it all. Choose the things you want to make the most, and then either buy the rest from the store or ask others to bring items (they usually offer anyway… take them up on it!)
3. Pick and Choose
I get it… I love the go all out and add in tons of details. But sometimes that’s not realistic. It really helps to be honest with yourself and choose the things that are most important to you ahead of time, and decide to let the rest go.
4. Allow Yourself to Make Mistakes
Do I need to be more specific? So you forgot to make the broccoli. It’s ok! I bet no one even notices (or even knew there was supposed to be broccoli).
5. Don’t be Afraid to Ask for Help
You have the opportunity to make some great family (or friend) memories here. Do you need help setting up? Making pies? Setting the table? Invite some people over early to help get everything ready. Put on some fun Christmas music and enjoy your extra time together. Put all the willing people to work!
