What you’ll need…
2 – 1×2 boards (8ft length)
drill (we have a Ridgid)
stain (or paint) of choice
#1 – Cut boards to desired length
#2 – Line up your boards
Clamp them together for added stability, if needed, during the drilling process.
#3 – Drill pilot holes
This part is simply to avoid the wood splitting by creating a pathway for your screws.
#4 – Insert screws and use drill to screw them in
Make sure to sink them a little bit past the front of the wood. This way you can fill the screw holes.
#5 – Fill holes
I used spackling to fill my holes, which was a mistake. Make sure to use wood filler if you’re planning on staining. If you plan to paint, it doesn’t really matter what you use.
#6 – Stain or Paint
Stain or paint the color of your choice!
#7 – Hang and decorate
Either find the studs and screw directly into the back of the ledge and into the wall, or use anchors if you can’t find the studs.
