The way that curtains are hung can make or break a room. Approach curtains in this way and you’ll be so glad you did.
The Most Common Mistake
While I’m sure there is plenty of opinion and controversy on this subject, the biggest mistake when it comes to hanging curtains is when they’re hung too low and too close together. There’s no better way to shrink a window, ceiling, and an entire room, really, than to hang curtains too low and too close together.
How to Fix it
Since my house has 8 foot ceilings, I have to maximize every inch that I can. In order to make the ceiling look and feel higher, I hang my curtain rods as close as I can to the ceiling, and stretch it wider than the window (for the window to appear larger than it is).
With that said, it’s possible that you’re thinking to yourself…
But Where Does One Find Curtains That Long??
Do they need to be custom made? Are they super expensive?
One thing you’ll learn about me, if you haven’t already, is that I don’t pay much for anything. If something is $20+, I better really love it. And I mean really love it.
Anyway, back to the curtains. There’s one place that I buy my curtains. They are extremely affordable, huge cotton panels. They come in 98″ and 118″ and the price is amazing. Cheaper than most short, skinny panels at plenty of stores these days.
Here are a few of my favorite curtains:

Give it a try! I think you’ll like it 🙂
